"The Virtual Executive: How to Act Like a CEO Online and Offline" is by D. A. Benton and published by McGraw Hill.

Debra Benson is a speaker, trainer and executive coach. In "The Virtual Executive," her goal is to teach executives and CEOs how to navigate today's numerous choices of social media and virtual communication tools in order to stay relevant in a sea of competition.

When more and more people work virtually, with less "face" time than ever, executives have to learn new ways of communicating and interacting with clients, employees, board members and the public.

The book is organized into chapters that cover various channels of communication. There's a chapter on voice channels, video channels, written channels and online communities channels. There's also a chapter called "user's stories."

From videoconferencing, instant messaging, and webinars to LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter, Benton explains how and when to use each platform.
