"Real Leaders Don't Follow" is Steve Tobak's call to managers to not get so caught up in the hyped-up world of social media marketing and Web 2.0. He argues this from a couple of perspectives. First, he claims that much of Web 2,0 isn't original. Rather, it's a clone of other's success. For example, one successful business makes a highly viral video using funny cats and the next thing you know almost every business that needs to get a Facebook Like includes a funny cat. Tobak also points to the unsettling rise of "wantrepreneur", or wannabe entrepreneurs who like the motivational quotes on Pinterest, but never take the real steps into entrepreneurship in the real world.
