"Screw the Valley" dispels the myth that all tech startups must originate from Silicon Valley. Written by a journalist who has spent over a decade covering tech, this book shares the perspective and upward growth of tech around the country. In particular, the book looks at several "hotspots" or cities where tech startups are centered (New York, Boulder, Austin, Raleigh, Detroit, Las Vegas, Kansas City) and which often didn't get a lot of press in traditional media. In providing these stories, the author shows that tech startups are able to thrive and grow outside the limited mindset and framework of "Silicon Valley only" credentials that are often used in comparing startups.
