About
Welcome to the 4th Annual "Small Business Book Awards" for 2012. The Awards celebrate the best books that small business owners and entrepreneurs should read, and honor the authors who write them. The Awards enable the small business community to nominate, show their support for, and vote on their favorite business books.
HOW DO THE SMALL BUSINESS BOOK AWARDS WORK?
The Small Business Book Awards consist of two phases: Phase 1 - Nomination: Anyone can nominate a business book. All nominations are subject to editorial review and approval by the Editors of Small Business Trends, to ensure they meet eligibility criteria. Nominations must be submitted by January 31, 2012, at 11:59pm Los Angeles time.
Phase 2 - Voting: Anyone can vote on the nominated books. Voting takes place from February 1, 2012 to February 16, 2012. To vote, simply find the book or books of your choice and click on the "VOTE" button. Come back daily and vote. One vote per IP address, per book, per day. Vote for as many books as you wish.
WHAT DO THE WINNERS GET?
The top 10 vote getters at the conclusion of voting, will each be named to the 2012 winners' list, along with the recognition that comes with being named a 2012 Small Business Book Awards winner. Recognition includes publicity as a winner, as well as the right to display Winners insignias on books, websites, brochures and elsewhere.
There will also be awards for the top 5 books in each category.
HOW DO I PROMOTE A BOOK TO GET MORE VOTES?
Feel free to grab a Badge to promote your book to your followers. Or hit one of the sharing buttons (Twitter, Facebook, Google +1, Stumbleupon, Email) under the description of the book of your choice, to share it with friends, colleagues, family and followers.
I DO NOT SEE MY FAVORITE BOOK - WHAT DO I DO?
If you don't see your favorite book, first do a search to see if it's already here. If a search fails to turn it up, then check to see if it meets the rules. If it meets the rules and it's not on the site already, please nominate the book here.
WHO'S BEHIND THE AWARDS?
The Best Small Business Book Awards initiative is produced by Small Business Trends, a popular online publication, which along with its sister sites, serves over 4,000,000 small business owners, stakeholders and entrepreneurs annually. The site was founded by Anita Campbell, widely regarded as an authority on small business issues, in 2003.
ETHICS STATEMENT updated January 26, 2012: "Visual Marketing," a book co-authored by Book Awards Founder Anita Campbell, is an official sponsor of the 4th Annual Book Awards and is NOT eligible for an Award due to the Founder's financial interest in the book.
HISTORY
Back in 2007 we noticed that most business books being reviewed or winning awards were books of interest to the enterprise or corporate audience. No sites consistently covered books specifically for small business owners and managers, or entrepreneurs.
Thus began the weekend business book reviews at Small Business Trends. Since starting the book reviews, our book reviewing team under the leadership of Book Editor Ivana Taylor, has reviewed hundreds of small business books, writing unbiased in-depth reviews.
These Awards are an outgrowth of the weekend book reviews. After publishing reviews, we frequently were asked for advice about which books to read. Rather than giving off-the-cuff responses, we decided to find a way to get a broader range of input on books worthy of recognition.
This is the 4th year for the Awards. Last year, nearly 200 books were submitted for consideration. Over 41,000 votes were cast by the community.
